Verlon Barnes was raised in central Nebraska.  He graduated with a degree in Soil Science from University of Nebraska at Lincoln.  His career includes more than 30 years with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) focusing on natural resource conservation and community and economic development.  He has addressed many projects at the field level, the watershed level, the state level and the multi-state level working with individual ag producers, community citizens, small groups, and large, diverse stakeholder groups.  In his current position based out of Omaha, Nebraska, he is the Missouri River Basin Coordinator.
